Dr. Muffazal Lakdawala
Dr. Muffazal Lakdawala, a leading laparoscopic, GI, and bariatric surgeon, is the founder of DHI and currently serves as the Director of General Surgery at Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital.
With over 50,000 surgeries performed globally, he has received numerous honors, including Best Surgeon in the World (ASMBS, 2019) and Lokmat Maharashtrian of the Year (2017). He was the Honorary Surgeon to the Vice President of India and is an honorary member of several national and international surgical societies.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he led efforts to treat over 10,000 patients in Mumbai at the NSCI Dome, Worli. He continues to play a vital role in obesity treatment and public health initiatives across the state.
Dr. Lakdawala has completed the Stanford Biodesign Global Faculty Training at the Stanford Byers Center for Biodesign – Mussallem Center (2025) and now contributes as a faculty member at Stanford Biodesign.
